Inducted into the Wawasee High School Academic Hall of Fame were Kaytlin Acton, Daniel Allen, Alyson Anderson, Audrey Anker, Jada Antonides, Zoe Berg, Luis Camargo, Colfax Cannaday, Jamaica Ensz and Carly Erst. Also Brandon Fox, Natalie Fritz, Alexis Graber, Sarah Harden, Todd Hauser, Jamsey Heckaman, Paige Hlutke, Riley Johnston, Courtney Linnemeier and Will McCarthy. Others inducted were Kendra Miller, Sophia Nyce, Blake O’Connell, Sarah Olejniczak, Gage Reinhard, Megan Rhodes, Breanna Robinson, Sam Rookstool, Kevin Schlipf and Katelyn Sexton. Also Benjamin Slabaugh, Brock Spangle, Tori Sylvester, Alyssa Torres, Kylie Tranter, Hannah Winters and Catherine Yankosky.
When you walk into the main entrance of Wawasee High School and stay straight ahead, you will notice almost right away group photos in a display case. Those photos are of the students inducted on an annual basis into the Academic Hall of Fame.
Friday evening, 37 more seniors were inducted into the hall of fame. It’s an annual tradition for a school priding itself on academic prowess.
Each of the students being inducted, along with their parents and the student’s choice of an educator, staff person or administrator who had the most influence on them, gathered for a banquet in the cafeteria of the high school. Students had their photos taken with principal Mike Schmidt, as well as the staff member they chose.
Vince Beasley, high school assistant principal, said the students worked hard preparing for the next stage in their lives and have created opportunities for themselves. He added it is a “great honor” for a staff member to be chosen by a student.
The meal was catered by Dan’s Pies with assistance by WHS culinary arts students.
