On Friday night, students and teachers at Wawasee High School gathered for an evening of fun and purpose as they kicked off the third annual Wawasee PowWow. Filled with games, food, activities and Warrior camaraderie, a portion of the money went to benefit an anonymous WHS student in need. Additionally, several clubs and organizations at the school earned money for their causes through the sale of food and other goods.

The students had their choice of numerous activities, including a cake walk, jousting house, sumo wrestling, a dodgeball tournament and dunk tank, just to name a few. The yearly event is sponsored by the Wawasee Leadership Team, which sponsors events throughout the week to raise money for the cause.

The evening’s event kicked off at 6:30 p.m. with official opening ceremonies, featuring the Wawasee High School band, and continued until 10 p.m. Approximately 300 students filled the school for the event, many of whom purchased their tickets in advance. Events took place in five separate areas of the school, including the main gym, the annex gym, the cafeteria, the Ag and Career Tech building and the commons area.

There was a little bit of something for everyone, and an opportunity for many of the school’s groups and organizations to bring some exposure to their programs.
