Wawasee High School’s concert band and orchestra will present a spring concert at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 16, in the high school auditorium. Admission is free.
Directed by Dr. Joyce Dubach, the orchestra will be playing several selections including the theme from “Dr. Who” and “Seasons of Love” from the musical “Rent.” The concert band, under the direction of Hope Bechtel, will be previewing their selections for the Indiana State School Music Association organizational contest April 25.
Dubach and Bechtel, along with Milford Middle School band director Sara Skow, will be taking members of the middle school bands and orchestra on tour Friday, April 17, to the Wawasee school district’s elementary schools to demonstrate beginning instruments to this year’s fifth-grade students. Sixth-graders can begin instrumental music study in either orchestra or band.
There is a meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 21, in the Wawasee Middle School cafetorium for parents to ask questions about the instrumental music program and receive information about renting instruments. If parents are unable to attend the informational meeting, they may contact the music teachers through Wawasee or Milford middle schools.
